PLASYS — Global Plastic Pollution Systems Symposium

PLASYS 02 Oct 2024 – 04 Oct 2024 Rhodes, Greece

Global Plastic Pollution Systems Symposium (PLASYS)

Plastic pollution is a global challenge and a core part of the triple planetary crisis, threatening the health, environment and economy of our societies. PLASYS gathers the scientific, engineering, innovation and decision-support communities to advance our collective understanding of the quantification of plastic pollution and to discuss preventive and circular solutions.

Through interdisciplinary and systems approaches, PLASYS is a one-stop shop for showcasing and reflecting upon the latest scientific developments and informing the science–policy interface. Following open-science principles, delegates share breakthroughs across the plastics lifecycle, covering economic activity, all environmental media (water, land, air), scales from nano to planetary, and every facet of plastic pollution.

Chaired by Dr Costas Velis and Prof. Demetris Lekkas, PLASYS is convened by the University of Leeds and the University of the Aegean, with organisational support from Global NEST. PLASYS24 was held in person from 2 to 4 October 2024 on the island of Rhodes, Greece.
